The Women of Family Christian Center to Join With Thousands Across the Nation to Pin-A-Sister™/Examinate Comadre™

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Will Touch More Than 12,000 Women on Mother’s Day Weekend.

MUNSTER, IN-Family Christian Center, one of the largest congregations in the greater Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, has joined forces with  Access Community Health Network to charge women to commit to their health.  Pin-A-Sister TM/Examinate ComadreTM  is a faith-based campaign that uses the “power of the pulpit” to encourage women to get mammography screenings.  Family Christian Center is located at 340 W 45th Street in Munster, IN under the leadership of Steve Munsey, Senior Pastor who sits on the Board of Directors for the Cancer Resource Center also based in Munster.  Pastor Melodye Munsey will have a special message for ladies in attendance. The Pin-A-Sister TM/Examinate ComadreTM ceremony will take place during all services Mother’s Day weekend (Saturday, May 11th, 5:30pm, Sunday May 12th, at 8:30am, 10:30am and 12:30pm) and will feature Breast Cancer survivors who thanks to a mammogram were able to detect and combat the disease.  As well, prominent women in the community have been invited to join Co-Pastor/First Lady Melodye Munsey as she leads the women of Family Christian Center in making  this pledge to their health. “As women, we do so much to care for others often sacrificing our own well-being; we must be proactive in taking care of ourselves. I am proud to lead the women of Family Christian Center in making this commitment to get this often life-saving mammogram", said Pastor Melodye Munsey.

The Church has always been an epicenter of community life and plays a vital role especially in the lives of many African-Americans and Hispanics—mobilizing, informing and raising awareness about pertinent issues in the community. Family Christian Center will join in solidarity with the more than 600,000 women from houses of worship across the country in conducting a ceremony in which women will pin each other with pink ribbons to symbolize their commitment to get screened “We believe and trust God’s ability to bring healing. However, advances of modern medicine such as ongoing Cancer research, innovative technology, and gifted doctors are inspired by God to restore and save lives. We can do our part by keeping our promise to get screened,” said Pastor Melodye.

Family Christian Center (FCC) is a culturally reflective and inclusive worship center that connects people to God and each other. FCC serves the total person through dynamic worship experiences, relevant programs and qualified pastoral care that offers hope through Jesus Christ.
