CHILDREN OF INCARCERATED RECEIVE DOLLS FROM FCC

Family Christian Center in its 3rd Year will distribute more than 500 “Hope Dolls” to the children of Chicago Land Metropolitan Area Inmates

In an effort to remember one of the nation’s most forgotten populations, the children of inmates, the Family Christian Center will present Hope, a specialized doll that speaks 12 affirmations of hope and value to children in the name of their incarcerated parents this holiday season at the following locations:

  • Decatur Correctional Center received 160 dolls last Friday
  • Logan Correctional Center houses female offenders received 80 dolls last Friday
  • Lake County, Indiana Jail will receive 120 dolls this Friday, 12/19/14

Media are Highly Encouraged to cover the following: Pastor Melodye Munsey of Family Christian Center will present the dolls to Jesse Taylor, Manager of Administration Service for Haymarket Center Mom’s Program which will receive 180 dolls on Saturday, 12/20/14 at Noon at 108 North Sangamon, Chicago, 60607 in the Lobby Haymarket Center MOM’s Program provides women with a continuum of care, and gender responsive treatment that empowers them to use recovery tools and parenting skills. The MOM’s Program provides women with a safe environment, which will allow them to give birth to drug-free infants and bond with their children. The women are empowered to break the bondage that binds them to trauma addiction, and criminal behavior.  The Participant’s in Haymarket Center MOM’s Program remain in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff where they are also placed on electronic monitoring. The MOM’s participants are monitored /transported by Haymarket Staff to all activities; court, medical, WIC, etc.

Family Christian Center is located 340 W. 45th Street, Munster, Indiana. The church is a culturally reflective worship center that connects people to God and each other. It serves the total person through dynamic worship experiences, relevant programs and qualified pastoral care that offers hope through Jesus Christ.

Dr. Steve Munsey, Pastor, is as active within the community and the doll distribution is just one of many outreach programs coupled with many worthy causes. His vision for family includes a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center with job counseling and a center for un-wed mothers.  Dr. Munsey can be seen on national television and cable TV outlets.
